Awasher and a dryer cost $602 combined. the washer costs $48 less than the dryer. what is the cost of the dryer?

If you have a question that tells the sum of two things and the difference of two things, to calculate the bigger one you have to add the sum and the difference then divide the answer by two; to calculate the smallest one you have to take away the difference from the sum then divide the answer by two.

In this case, the dryer is the 'bigger one' so we do ($602+$48)/2=$325

Now I am proving my method is feasible,
the washer is  the 'smaller one' so we do ($602-$480)/2=$277
$277+$325=$602
$325-$277=$48
