General Motors manufactures automotive batteries at its ACDelco Division in batches of 320
batteries per day. Quality Control determined that on one particular Monday, 21 batteries in the
daily batch were defective. On the following Wednesday, 15 batteries were defective in the
batch of 320 batteries. And, on the following Friday, 24 batteries were defective in the daily
batch. Using only this limited past data, determine how many batteries can be expected to be
defective on any one day if production is increased to 400 batteries in the daily batch.
