The City Building Inspectors decide whether to allow a new home to be occupied before construction has been completed. The City works with the contractors and the builders when this happens.

The inspector decides if there are life and/or safety issues. Life and/or safety issues include faulty wiring, no heat, no electricity, or major structural problems. These are issues that could harm occupants. For minor issues, a temporary occupancy permit may be given. Minor issues include problems with water pressure, flaking paint, stained walls, or weather issues. Specific deadlines to fix these issues will be identified. If the issues are not fixed by the deadline, the permit will be rescinded.
