Answer the following questions. (a) A store is offering a sale of 30% off all items. What is the price of a $24 shirt after
the discount? Round the answer to two decimal places.
(b) A customer paid $16.99 for a shirt that normally sells for $19.99. What percent
discount did the customer receive? Round your answer to the nearest percent.
(c) A customer and a salesperson are arguing about a promotion and a coupon
applied after the promotional discount. The promotion is a 20% discount on all items
in the store. The coupon is an additional 10% off of the order. The customer claims
the 20% discount should be made before the 10% discount. The salesperson claims
it does not matter which order to give the discounts. Who is correct and why? Make
sure you prove your claim and include relevant mathematical calculations - I am a
skeptic and will doubt your answer unless you have enough details to prove your
conclusion.
