Can someone teach me something about fractions ? Im kinda struggling.. 50 points.

Then add and simplify.

To multiply fractions: Simplify the fractions if not in lowest terms.  Multiply the numerators of the fractions to get the new numerator.  Multiply the denominators of the fractions to get the new denominator.

To Divide A Fraction By Whole Number

1.  Turn the whole number into a fraction. ( ex: 2=2/1)

2. Multiply the fraction by the whole number fraction.

3. Multiply the tops together and the bottoms together

1.  Arrange the equation

you need to first make denominator in the fractions you have equal, then simply subtract numenators.  example:  2/3 - 1/2  first step is to make denominators equal.  for this example, the denominator will be equal to 6 which is 2x3

so, 2/3 = 4/6 and 1/2 = 3/6  so, the expression now becomes:

4/6 - 3/6  simply subtract numenators and the denominator will be 6 as well.

4/6 - 3/6 = 1/6  another example:

3/4 - 1/2  here the denominator can be equal to 4 in all terms

1/2 = 2/4  so, the new expression is now:

3/4 - 2/4 = 1/4

a) y = -3x +2

b) y = 1/2x -6

these 2 can be combined into one equation.

-3x +2 = .5x -6

8 = 3.5x

x = 8 / 3.5 = 2.2857142857

y = -3 * (8 / 3.5) +2

y = (-24 / 3.5) + 2

y = -4.8571428571
