So first we need to find y, to do that we make an equation.
3y-12+63=180, first add 63 to -12.
3y+51=180, we move our constant to the right.
3y=180-51, subtract 51 from 180
3y=129, divide both sides by 3.
3y/3=129/3, and your answer is...
y=43

Now to find x, so we know that both the top and bottom lines are the same since they are cut into equal angles by the vertical line. To make this easier let’s do the math knowing that y=43, 3(43)-12=117. This means that the top right angle on the top line equals 177 degrees. And if you invert the angles that means the bottom left angle of the top line equals 177. Now we know what 5x+2 will equal however we still need to find x, before we make an equation we also need to be aware that the top left angle on the top line is also 63 degrees, by inverting that we also know the bottom right angle of the top line equals 63 degrees. So now we make our equation to find x.

5x+2+63=180, first we add 2 to 63.
5x+65=180, then we move our constant to the right.
5x=180-65, subtract 65 from 180.
5x=115, divide both sides by 5.
5x/5=115/5, and your answer is...
x=23
