The electrical contractor you work for has been called to investigate a problem with some parking lot lights. The problem is that when the lights come on, they only stay on for about 3 minutes. After some investigation you discover that there are 16 parking lot lights. The farthest row of lights is approximately 1200’ away from the panel. You also find that the installer used #12 THHN CU throughout the entire run. The lighting system is on a 277v 20A circuit and each light is a 400w metal halide. The lights are expected to run more than 3 consecutive hours. In a well thought out manner, explain what you think the problem is and how you would correct it. Reference what NEC articles/tables you use in your explanation.
