Read the following problem about food deserts (not desserts!) and single parents, which we will solve in Chapter 8:
Joe is a single father with two kids and not much money. He works two jobs just
try to make ends meet, and he is hoping to minimize how much money he spends on
food. Joe has two options for each meal: fast food (which is generally unhealthy) and a
healthy meal that involves purchases from a grocery store and cooking at home. He can
get through a fast food meal with his family in about 1 hour (including travel time). On
average, it takes about 2 hours to get through a healthy meal (averaging in the time i
takes him to travel to the nearest grocery store, which is about 50 miles round trip, and
to cook the meals). Each fast food meal for his family costs $25, while each healthy
meal on average costs $40 (both factor in gas costs for travel). As working two jobs
takes a lot of time, he only has a total of 30 hours to dedicate to feeding his family.
Since there are 7 days and at least 3 meals per day, he needs to provide at least 21
meals for his family.
Find the combination of fast food meals and healthy meals that will minimize his weekly
cost.
You are NOT expected to solve this problem in this exploration - we are just going
to nick it an art to cyamine the Rule of Four
