Most savings accounts advertise an annual interest rate, but they actually compound that interest at regular intervals during the year. That means that, if you own an
account, you'll be paid a portion of the interest before the year is up, and, if you keep
that payment in the account, you'll start earning interest on the interest you've already
earned
For example, suppose you put $500 in a savings account that advertises 5% annual
interest. If that interest is paid once per year, then your balance B after t years could be
computed using the equation B = 500(1.05)', since you'll end each year with 100% +
5% of the amount you began the year with.
On the other hand, if that same interest rate is compounded monthly, then you would
compute your balance after t years using the equation
.05121
B = 500(1 +
0(1+3)
a. Why does it make sense that the equation includes the term ? That is, why are we
dividing.05 by 12?
b. How does this equation reflect the fact that you opened the account with $500?
c. What do the numbers 1 and the represent in the expression (1 + i)?
d. What does the "128" in the equation represent?

Ican interpret and represent the remainder in division calculations sensibly for the context (eg if we wont to know how many 40 seat buses will be needed to transport 170 students for on excursion, we divide 170 by 40 and realise buses and another smaller vehicle to that we need 4 transport 10 more students) solve the following questions. show your work! 11) the zoo had 420 butterflies that needed to be transported to a new enclosure. the boxes that the butterflies would be moved in only hold 80 butterflies in each. how many boxes would they need? 2 12) each classroom in the school can have exactly 25 students, if there are 345 students in the school how many full classrooms are there?

According to a research study, parents with young children slept 6.4 hours each night last year, on average. a random sample of 18 parents with young children was surveyed and the mean amount of time per night each parent slept was 6.8. this data has a sample standard deviation of 0.9. (assume that the scores are normally distributed.) researchers conduct a one-mean hypothesis at the 5% significance level, to test if the mean amount of time parents with young children sleep per night is greater than the mean amount of time last year. the null and alternative hypotheses are h0: μ=6.4 and ha: μ> 6.4, which is a right-tailed test. the test statistic is determined to be t0=1.89 using the partial t-table below, determine the critical value(s). if there is only one critical value, leave the second answer box blank.
