The Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997, and required countries to start reducing their carbon emissions. The protocol became enforceable in February 2005. In 2004, the mean CO2 emission was 4.87 metric tons per capita. In 2010, the CO2 emissions for a random sample of 47 countries were collected. Is there enough evidence to show that the mean CO2 emission is higher in 2010 than in 2004?
Test at the 1% level.
Table #7.3.3: CO2 Emissions (in metric tons per capita) in 2010 1.36 1.42 5.93 5.36 0.06 9.11 7.32 7.93 6.72 0.78 1.80 0.20 2.27 0.28 5.86 3.46 1.46 0.14 2.62 0.79 7.48 0.86 7.84 2.87 2.45

17. a researcher measures three variables, x, y, and z for each individual in a sample of n = 20. the pearson correlations for this sample are rxy = 0.6, rxz = 0.4, and ryz = 0.7. a. find the partial correlation between x and y, holding z constant. b. find the partial correlation between x and z, holding y constant. (hint: simply switch the labels for the variables y and z to correspond with the labels in the equation.) gravetter, frederick j. statistics for the behavioral sciences (p. 526). cengage learning. kindle edition.
