planned trips there. The senior class at High School A rented and filled
8 vans and 4 buses with 220 students. High School B rented and filled 12 vans and 4 buses with 228 students. Every van had the same
number of students in it as did the buses. How many students can a
van carry? How many students can a bus carry?

I know the answer but when I try showing my work it gives me a completely different answer and I dont know what I'm m doing wrong.

b = how many students fit into a bus

School A:

11v+10b=629

School B:

14v+10b=656

Since both classes used 10 buses, we can use elimination by subtracting the A class equation from the B class equation and solve for v, for its value. Then, use either equation and the now found value for v to solve for b.
