To start off, we'll begin with the first equation: y=-3x+8

When graphing an equation you want to find the y intercept first (where the line meets the y axis). In this equation the y intercept is the positive 8. You will count 8 up the y axis to find your first point in this equation, (0,8)

Next you will use the slope given to finish graphing the equation. The slope in this equation is -3x or -3/1x. Starting from point (0,8) you will travel down three and to the right once. This will give you your next point of the line (1,5) You will continue this process, traveling down three and to the right one starting from the point you left off on. Your final points of the line for the first equation are: (0,8) (1,5) (2,2) (3,-1) (4,-4) and (5,-7). Graph these 6 points and draw a line connecting them together.

Now for the next equation: y=4/5x-1

Like the last equation you will need the Y intercept first and this equation's is -1, so you will travel down one along the y axis, making the first point for this equation (0,-1)

Following the same steps as the last equation, you will now graph the slope which is 4/5x, meaning you will travel up 4 and to the right 5. The final points you should have for this equation on the graph are: (0,-1) (5,3) and (-5,-5). Draw the line connecting these points together and there you have it, the second equation on a graph.
