3. If the blue iguana was 3 inches long by the end of September, how long was the
iguana at the end of August?

I guess that the table is:

September (1 1/8) in

October (3 3/8) in

November (1 5/8) in

December (1 1/8) in.

1) by the end of October, the iguana has grown:

D = (1 1/8)in + (1 5/8)in + (3 3/8)in = 5in + (1/8 + 3/8 + 5/8) = (6 1/8) in.

2) How many inches had the blue iguana grown by the end of December?

Here we add the other (1 1/8)in to the number that we find above:

(6 1/8)in + (1 1/8)in = 7in + (1/8 + 1/8)in = (7 2/8)in

3) the iguana is 3 inches long at the end of September, then at the end of Agust, the length of the iguana is x = 3in minus the amount that it grows in December:

X = 3cm - (1 1/8)in = (1 7/8)in

b and c are the correct answers.
