Due to a concern regarding the presence of a disease known as Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker affecting Great Britain’s horse chestnut trees, a group of scientists from the Forestry Commission set out to count the number of affected trees in urban environments. The group surveyed 1244 horse chestnut trees located in urban environments and found that 54% of the trees surveyed showed symptoms of the bleeding canker disease. The 95% confidence interval for this proportion is (0.512,0.568) .
