Business Plan Project

Situation: You are a young entrepreneur, and you are interested in starting your own cupcake business. However,
you can’t currently afford the bakery, the ovens, and all the other startup costs you have, so you need to take out a
loan. Before you can apply for the loan, you need to put together a business plan in which you lay out your plan for
making your business profitable.
Here are the basic numbers that you have calculated for your business:
• Income: Each day, you can count on selling one shirt for $25, and you will sell each batch of cupcakes for $6.75.
So, since you will make exactly $15 off the shirt you sell each day, your total income is a function of how many
batches of cupcakes you sell.
• Costs: However, it costs money to make cupcakes. To run your electricity and pay your employees, it will cost
you $250 each day. Also, it costs money for the ingredients that you need to make the cupcakes. For every
batch of cupcakes, you will spend $0.50 on ingredients.
Your project is to (1) create a business plan and (2) answer application questions about the situation:
Your business plan should cover 1, 2, and 3 below:
(1) Write a system of equations for the situation (hint: one equation will describe your income, and the other
equation will describe your costs).
(2) Solve the system of equations three different ways, and explain
