If a chef bought some green and red peppers, and 18 of them that she bought was green. Then that makes the rest of them red. If 3/4 was green, you want to find out how many weren't green. To find out what one fourth would be you would take 18/3=6

1/4 equals 6.

Therefore; that means that she has 6 red peppers with her 18 green ones.

To find out the total number of peppers that she bought you want to take 6+18=24. In total she bought 24 peppers.
