A research laboratory was developing a new compound for the relief of severe cases of hay fever. In an experiment with 36 volunteers, the amounts of two active ingredients (factors A and B) in the compound were varied at 3 levels each (low, medium, high). Randomization was used to assign 4 volunteers to each of the 9 treatments. The response variable was the hours of relief from hay fever symptoms.
