let the left-handed golve be y

x+y=12

y=12-x

cost of rigth haded glove = $45

left-handed cost =$52

45x+52y=561

subsitute for y

45x+52(12-x)=561

45x-52x+624=561

-7x=-63

x=9

y=12-9

y=3
