The way I learned how to do it is to find two points on the line that are on one spot. Lets use the points -4,-1 and -2, 1 for the first question. Now, you want to find something called rise and run. So, you are going to start from the point -4,-1, and go up until you are on the y axis of 1 (because that is where the other point is on) Basically, you just went up 2 points, so that is your rise. Next, you have to move 3 points to the right to get to the other point -2,1. 3 is your run. Now, you have the number 2/3. Usually, you would simply your fraction, but you can't do that for this one. So, your answer would be 2/3. You could also start from the point -2,1 and go down 2 points, which gives you -2, and left 3 points, which gives you -3. Because going right and up = positive number. Down and left = negative number. Now, you have -2/-3. But you can simplify this one by dividing them by -1. So, you would still get 2/3; but I just think it's easier to do it the other way.
