For certain species of organisms, the effective growth rate is highest at an intermediate population size. this is the called the allee effect. for example, imagine that it is too hard to find mates when the population is very small, and there is too much competition for food and other resources when it is is large. one model that captures this effect is dn t = n [r − a(n − b)2], where t denotes time, n corresponds to the population size at time t, and a, b, and r are biological constants. suppose n(0) = 1, find the solution of the above integral for r = 1, a = 1, b = 1.
