does anyone know how to solve this? if so, id like an explanation on how this is solved, and you.

given f(x)=2x+1 and g(x) =x^2+2x-1, find (f+g) (x) and find (f-g)(x). then evaluate the sum when x=2

( ps: i was also given this formula or something. not sure.)
sum: (f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x)
difference: (f-g)(x)=f(x)-g(x)
