x + y = -316 --- eqn 1

given that one number is 94 less than the other. Let us consider “y” is 94 less than “x”. hence we get

y = x – 94 --- eqn 2

By substituting eqn 2 in eqn 1, we get

x + x -94 = -316

2x – 94 = -316

2x = -316 +94

2x = -222

x = -111  

By substituting the value of “x” in eqn 2, we get the value of “y”

y = -111-94 = -205

hence the two numbers are -111 and -205
