The first tip I would give is to get really close to your defender and be in his face. Be frantic, reach for the ball, and make sure that if he shoots, you will be on top of him. If you give a guy who's significantly taller than you any sort of space, he will drain it. You don't want that. Get up in his grill - I'm talking basically chest to chest contact - this bothers me a lot.  

Second, and this goes mostly for short stockier people - is if a bigger guy tries to play you in the post, squat down and use your lower center of gravity against him. I've gotten out-posted by plenty of people shorter than me, who simply were able to lock themselves into a post spot that I couldn't budge them from. This kills taller peoples' offense.
