For number 9, you apply both of the formulas. Since there is both a triangle and a square, (remember, a square uses the same formula as a parallelogram and a rectangle) you just use the formulas you have used previously. Split the two shapes, and solve them separately. To find the missing base of the triangle, you only have to look at the two bases, 3, and 5.8. To find the base of the triangle, subtract 3 from 5.8. If you want to know why, the reason being is that the point where the triangle forms is where the base are separate (both are separate numbers). You find that the base of the triangle is 2.8, and you plug it in. After solving for both shapes, you add the two answers, and you should get 14.08 m.
