8 distinctions proved to be not good enough Our daughter received her matric results two weeks ago. She obtained 8 distinctions and an
overall average of 90%. She also obtained her national colours in hockey and athletics. She
was also the chairperson of the RCL at a prestigious school. Additionally, she even learned
IsiZulu as a means to improve her communication skills. After popping the champagne, we now
have to dry our tears because she has not been accepted at the medical school. Her goal was
to specialise in paediatrics and that was the driving force behind the good performance. How
does one console your child in such a situation?
