How did Goffman become interested in this alternate path of prison that some kids take on their way to adulthood? Explain.

As a college student at The University of Pennsylvania she saw and met kids who didn’t grow up in the best families and didn’t get the opportunities like other kids did. These kids were practically shipped off to prison and the ones who had good opportunities in life didn’t.

She had seen kids playing a game of chase. Kids would split up into two groups, those being chased and those doing the catching. If they were caught, they would get handcuffed. This tells me that kids are seeing things they shouldn’t be seeing in their communities.
