The court may have transcripts prepared from analog or digital audio files by professional transcription services based on credentials offered by the profession. this would include firms or individuals that have been certified by the american association of electronic reporters and transcribers (aaert) or other transcription certification organization that the court deems suitable. the court may also use transcribers who have previously been provisionally approved by the ao (the ao no longer provides provisional approval to transcribers). likewise, courts may use individuals who have received court reporter certification to transcribe audio files. while the judicial conference does not permit the ao to maintain a central listing of certified transcribers, a court may keep a local list of qualified transcribers.
