True. The government was trying to find ways to pay its debts that incurred during the Revolutionary War.  This caused among the people of Massachusetts who rose in revolt. It took a privately funded militia to defeat this rebellion.  It should the weakness of the Articles of Confederation and called for a stronger government and new constitution.

The statement above is true. Shay’s rebellion occurred between 1786 and 1787. These were a series of protests made by American farmers because of the state and local enforcement of tax collections and debt judgments. There were also rebellions in New Hampshire and South Carolina but Massachusetts was suffering most in terms of harvest, economic depression, and very high taxes that caused the farmers to lose their farms. Its leader was Daniel Shays, a former captain in the Continental army, the rebellion was so named after him.
