Why should we get rid of the electoral college?

PRO:

The reason why we should get rid of the Electoral college because I think the people should choose who can become the next president when the Electoral college is gone the power would be in the people (U.S citizens) to decide what candidate to choose for our president.

CON:

We shouldn't get rid of the Electoral college because they look at the facts and numbers before they decide who to choose. They dont only look at the votes from the people they look at private information (outcomes, strengths and weaknesses, pros and cons) before they choose.
