Mass media in particular film and radio began to bridge the regional cultures of the US into one larger American culture. Members of professional sports and film stars became national celebrities. Americans were watching the same movies and many had the money to enjoy the films creating national figures such as Charlie Chaplin. Baseball became the American past time with legends rising such as Babe Ruth. In addition F. Scott Fitzgerald became America's author with wonderful tales of the Jazz Age and opulence of the 1920s. Charles Lindbergh became a cultural icon with air tricks and his charm as he toured the country. The idea of celebrity and modern culture rose during the 1920s bringing Americans together.
