How does chateaubriand describe the lives of french people during the french revolution?

Francois-Auguste-Rene de Chateaubriand was a French nobleman who fled the country when the Revolution started.  From England, he wrote about what was happening in France.  He described how the nation had become unrecognizable, changing so quickly from what it had been to something confused and alienating.  Conspiracy theories were everywhere -- you didn't know who you could trust.  Street names were changed so you wondered where you were.  The whole calendar was changed, so you didn't even know what month it was.  Ancient customs had been obliterated and no one (in his view) really knew where all these new directions were heading.

Obviously, from the point of view of an aristocrat like Chateaubriand, the Revolution in France was a horrible and dangerous thing.  (If you asked someone from a different sector of society at the time, you'd likely have received a different response.)

i think it was because of how protected egyptian civilization was was which allowed them to evolve without much outside influence.

although the crusades failed to capture jerusalem, they had several major impacts on western europe. they increased the authority of the king: sometimes nobles died in battle without leaving an heir in which case the king got their land. kings passed taxes to pay for the crusades.
