A is correct. Ford acted through executive order to pardon Nixon for any wrongdoings committed during his presidency. This pardon was incredibly controversial as many Americans were quite upset and disillusioned by the actions of Nixon. Ford did this to help heal the country and prevent months, perhaps years, of investigation and trials.
