The Americans with disabilities amendments act was passed in 2008 to widen the scope of what types of things are covered under the disabilities umbrella. This is intended to reinvigorate the ADA by means of expanding the meaning of the term disability in order to offer protection for people who would not have been thought as disabled before the passage of the ADAAA or ADA Amendments Act of 2008.
