During the 1700s most of the population in the 13th Colonies protested because taxation without representation. In fact, one of the famous slogans of the time was: "no taxation without representation". The Boston tea party took place in 1773 and was a protest against the taxes set by the British king to the imports of tea. Despite the taxes were not very high, it was an act of discomfort with the colonial system and a way to promote the liberation of the colonies.
