How did the phoenicians spread information and their culture throughout the mediterranean?

One of the major ways in which the Phoenicians spread information and their culture throughout the Mediterranean, was through trade, since their economy was based largely on trading--meaning that their products and customs were brought to different ports along the Mediterranean.
