Who are the acadians and why are they significant to north american british colonial history?

The Acadians are descendants of the French colonists who settled in Acadia during the 17th and 18th centuries. The Acadians are significant because they were separated from the council so their French language evolved independently and the Acadians retain several elements of 17th century French that have been lost in France.
