What caused feudalism to decline? 1.because trade increased, cities grew, and a middle class was created, the system was no longer necessary. 2.as trade increased and cities grew, the middle class became so powerful that they no longer needed a king. 3.through the increasingly powerful middle class, the cities grew to enormous proportions. they no longer needed a political and economic system to keep trade flourishing.
