Like many of the innovations that came to define the Western World, the printing press was not an innovation of the Europeans, but a technology that derived from Asia, Yet, it was a technology that had massive ramifications for the future of western civilization, as witnessed by the Scientific Revolution and the Protestant Reformation. Why do you think that the innovation of movable type did not have the same global ramifications for Asia as it did in Europe? What factors may have accounted for the cultural disparity?
