Learning Astronomy Historically the year was determine by measuring the time the earth takes to go around the earth.
The month is the average time the moon takes to revolve around the earth.
The week is a quarter of the month or quarter moon phases.
The day was determine by measuring the time the earth takes to make one revolution.
Is there an event being measure by the hour, the minute or the second.
Or are these measurements simply decided by dividing the day into two dozen (12) periods, 12 hours of PM and 12 hours of AM. Dozen (12) number having some historical significance.
