Excerpt
Though the Revolutionary War was fought for only eight years, from 1775 to 1783, its impact on global history lasted much longer. The war was caused by political and philosophical differences between the American colonies and Great Britain. Because of the war, a new country with a new approach to government — democracy — was formed. The new United States of America would serve as a source of inspiration to other nations fighting for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
