In part one of cruel tribute how do king argues actions affect the advancement of the plot

In Part One of this story King Aegeus's action of killing of Minos's son caused Minos to seek punishment for the Athenian people.

The King of Athens had killed the son of Minos, a son he treasured so much. For this, Minos sought revenge. He wanted to destroy the whole of Athens.

After deliberating and listening to the plea of the people, he agreed not to destroy Athens. He wanted several Athenians to be sent to him seasonally to be killed by his wild beast.

Following this story, the reader can clearly deduce that King Aegeus allowed envy to get to him. Killing Minos's son put him, his family, and his subjects in trouble. These circumstances led to his death at the end.
