Farmers preferred to settle in flat, open areas such as plains and valleys. Large, flat spaces gave farmers room to plant crops. Fish and shellfish are important resources for many human civilizations because they are very high in protein and vitamins that benefit human development. You can transport larger things on water and over greater distances.They contribute towards fiscal revenue, income, and poverty reduction. Sectors related to natural resources use provide jobs and are often the basis of livelihoods in poorer communities. Owing to this fundamental importance of natural resources, they must be managed sustainably.
