Well Doug like was pro slavery Lincoln was pro hut anti slavery see he supported slavery but he did not the support it to expand to the west also new states and territories helped keep the issue of slavery up and no civil war could not be avoided people from the south felt they were different in culture but beliefs too and they wanted to leave for a while
