Doctrine
The Central Intelligence Agency adopted a policy to oust any Marxist leaning leaders
that might be a threat to democracy
Allende was ousted and killed in a coup d'etat in 1973
Allende was replaced by military dictator Augusto Pinochet, who ruled with a
military junta in 1990
