Create a multimedia presentation to analyze continuities and changes in American culture over three time periods, from 1607 to the present.
You will choose three time periods from a given list. Then, you will analyze continuities and changes in
four of the following areas: gender roles; consumption; leisure activities; popular culture (art, literature,
and media); social values and principles; the role of religion; or the role of science and technology.
Relevant evidence in the form of documents, charts, art, and photographs must be included.
Step 1: Review your prompt carefully.
a) Consider the requirements you must meet.
b) Think about the choices you have in your response.
c) Review what you learned about creating an effective analysis of continuities and
changes.
d) Research to learn more about your chosen eras and topics.
Step 2: Consider the required elements of the multimedia presentation.
a) Choose the time periods you wish to include in your presentation. You must choose
three of the following eras:
-Colonial Era (1607–1763)
-Revolutionary Era (1763–1789)
-Antebellum Era (1789–1850)
- Industrial Era (1871–1914)
-Roaring Twenties (1918–1929)
-World War II Era (1939–1945)
-The 1950s (1945–1960)
-The 1960s (1960–1972)
-Modern Era (1980–Present)

b) Conduct research to analyze continuities and changes in four of the following areas:

-Gender roles
-Consumption
-Leisure activities
-Popular culture (art, literature, and media)
-Social values and principles
-The role of religion
-The role of science and technology

The presentation should not only simply discuss examples of these categories; it should
also, discuss the reasons for the continuities and changes between time periods.
c) Decide how you want to organize your presentation. You may wish to consider
organizing it by theme rather than by time period.
d) Create your presentation on the computer using presentation or video-editing software.
e) Include digital media, such as images, video, or audio.
f) Use text to convey main ideas, when appropriate.
g) Address all parts of the question in your presentation.
h) Have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.
i) Develop a clear thesis to guide your presentation.
j) Present supporting evidence while conveying your perspective clearly.
k) Include a list of resources that you used, including websites, textbooks, and other
materials.
