Graded Assignment History 1865-Present Final Project
Here are some tips for success!
READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY
Please answer in complete sentences. This is a big part of how I grade your assignment. Full sentences mean starting the sentence by rephrasing the question, using an event or person’s name (“Susan B. Anthony…” and not “She…”).
Be sure that you answer the question asked fully. Answer all parts of the question and make sure that your answers actually do answer what I am asking.
Answer in your own words. You can use your textbook and notes to help but you must put it in your own words.
Answer to the best of your ability. You can always get partial credit. Don’t be afraid to try!!!
Also save this to your history folder. Name the file with your name and “TGA Sem 2 Unit 4.” Save frequently!
Always check grammar and spelling before you submit. I recommend using Grammarly. com.
Double check your work and take your time!
Submit this assignment into the class dropbox on the D2L. If you email assignments to teachers, they will not be able to grade it.
Directions: Complete 2 of the follow 5 questions. You do not need to do more than 2 questions. Each question is worth 30 points for a total of 60 points. Remember to answer in complete sentences when writing is required and to always do original work. ALL WORK MUST BE YOUR OWN FOR CREDIT.

You can do more than 2 for extra credit (a max of 30 extra credit points). Please label which ones you want to be your extra credit questions otherwise I will grade the first two you do and consider the rest as extra credit.

Question 1: Pick a historical event that we learned about and change it. What would happen in your alternate history? Why did you choose to change this event? Explain how your change would then change three other events in American history.

Question 2: Create a timeline with at least 5 related events (here is an example of a timeline). Make sure that the timeline includes the event names, dates (or date ranges) and are in chronological order, spaced out appropriately. Write a paragraph about how these events are related. How did each event cause the next?

Question 3: Read the lyrics to Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start the Fire. Pick 5 people/events listed in the song and explain them. Make sure you include the person/event name as said in the song, what happened, what year the event took place, and who the key people involved were. OR You can write your verse to the song about a time in history not covered by We Didn’t Start the Fire.

Question 4: Draw or digitally create a magazine cover depicting a historic event that we discussed this year. Ensure that you give your magazine a name as well as creating a headline for the event that you are depicting. You can look at the Time Magazine Archive for inspiration (but don’t copy one, create your own!).

Question 5: Create a 2-3 minute podcast discussing a historical event or person we discussed this year. You can just talk about the event factually or you can get creative and create a fake interview with a historical figure.
