First you need to come up with a specific question you want to answer about global warming. You can't write just a short essay on the whole topic of "global warming"; whole books have been written on just parts of that topic. So you need to ask something like "What government policies towards highways, automobiles, and public transit would help reduce global warming?" or "What is the role of meat-eating and cattle-raising in global warming?" Then do research on that specific question and when you find answer(s), then you have the material for your essay.
