What did people like about socialism?

Most people like socialism because it promises equal distribution of wealth in society. Money is taken from people who can afford to lose some of their money and the money is given to people who need the money. Usually, the lower class/poor love socialism because it gives them the opportunity to try and get their lifestyle going, whereas the upper class/rich brush off socialism because they have so much money, it doesn't really matter to them that some of their money gets loaned. 

Most people dislike socialism, however, the lower class tends to favor it. Socialism is a form of government in which money, goods, services, etc. Are equally distributed among all citizens.

Unfortunately, this system seems to be somewhat faulty. The lower class favors socialism because it requires the wealthier people to share some of their money. With a socialist government, there are no rich or poor, because the rich must help pay for the poor. This eventually puts them all on the same level. The system is somewhat faulty because wealthier people often stop working hard, because their money is given to the poorer class. This leads them to think that because they cannot keep the extra money that they earn, they should not work to earn extra. This would ultimately leads socialism to collapse, because the wealthier citizens would no longer have additional money to share with the lower class.

To directly answer your question: the lower class likes socialism because it allows them to have the same amount of money as a wealthier person (because he has to share his money).

The upper class often dislikes socialism because it forces them to give their money to the lower class, which includes some people who do not deserve it.
