I think that currently the American people choose their president based on their current qualifications, their trustworthiness, their intentions, and whether or not they can help America.

I think that currently the American people choose their president based on their current qualifications, their trustworthiness, their intentions, and whether or not they can help America. There are some discrepancies, however the candidate's qualifications show the people whether or not (as it suggests) have the experience necessary to make the right decisions, this may delve into the candidate’s accomplishments as well, more as a show of proof if anything. This also leads to trustworthiness, in which the candidate’s have to have shown in the past that they are deserving of the public’s trust and they can continue to justify that trust. Last but not least, the intentions of the candidate must be true, and must be to help America, this plays with the candidate’s ideals as the wrong ideals/beliefs/values means a future of America in which it isn’t at its best.
