Both the shogun&daimyo in Feudal japan has a similar power with the lords on the European feudal system.

Both of them owned vast amount of land where people can worked on and received small percentage of the product in return and both of them also employed swordsman to protect their land from invaders. (in japan they are known as samurai in Europe they are known as knights)
